Week 4 (Day 2), What I Did Today – Photoshop Experimenting

Today was the start of the wrap-up of our project. We had to finish up editing our photos. I had to figure out how to add a background to the image.

So I had a hard time figuring out how to add an image by myself, so I searched up some videos.

So these two videos really helped me get started on adding a background. It showed me how to easily place a background into the image, send them into the back, and then cut out parts of the image to show the background underneath.

Some things I learned:

  • Sending image to the back – There were two ways I learned. One is to drag the layer you want to be seen on top by moving the layer to the top in the layers section, like this:

Drag the layer you want to be in front to the top of the layers section

Or, to just drag the image you want to be on top by literally dragging it on top.

  • Erasing the background – After you have the background underneath the image, you merely use an eraser to erase the background. Using the magic eraser to erase would be best. This is a very simple method, and was very easy to learn. Although, it did take me a bit of time to learn.

This is what it looks like right now

I’m still having a really hard time figuring out how to use knockout. I’m not sure if I’m still going to look into it again.

So now I have to finalize my mood board, start editing my band photo for real, and start working on my evaluation. Hopefully, I’ll have everything more or less done by this coming Thursday.
