Week 4 (Day 1), What I Did Today – Photoshop Experimenting

So today I was experimenting on how to add a background.

I looked though quite a lot of backgrounds, including this one:

One of the cool backgrounds I found

I just used the Paint editing software to remove the Wii.

Even though I found quite a lot of nifty backgrounds, it was quite difficult for me to merge them. But this particular video helped me out:

Here is the link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utntLoBM72Y

This particular video was helpful because I was able to replace the background with a different color. It’s a start. This video led me to this new tool:

Paint Bucket Tool – This is one of the main features that helped me add a background. Basically this thing is like a splashing a bucket of paint onto the image, just like it says. First you have to set the foreground color. This can be found in the lower left corner of the screen.

The Foreground Color Setting (can be found in the lower left corner of the tool panel) *tip: the hazel-colored panel is the foreground color. The white one beneath it is the background color

Clicking the foreground color opens up  this screen:

Color Picker

Then you select the color you want. After that you use the paint bucket tool and click the area you want to paint over.

The end result was this:

I added a grey background

I added a grey background because it looks a lot cooler and sleek. it gives a more refined look to it.

So I’m still sifting through things. The video I found was especially helpful. Not the best, but it was helpful. I still have a lot to learn though.
